Memorial Procession scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday; Memorial Service set for 1 p.m. at ilani Casino Resort
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office provided details of the Memorial Procession and Service for Sgt. Jeremy Brown, to be held Tuesday at the ilani Casino in Ridgefield.
The Memorial Procession is expected to start at 11 a.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 3) at Clark College. As many as 300 emergency vehicles from law enforcement and EMS agencies from Washington state and neighboring states are expected to participate.
The procession will start on Fort Vancouver Way, in front of Clark College, and end at the ilani Resort. It will proceed from Clark College, south on Fort Vancouver Way, turning west (right) on E. Mill Plain Blvd. before proceeding west on E. Mill Plain Blvd. The procession will merge onto Interstate 5 and proceed north to the LaCenter/Cowlitz Reservation exit (Exit 16). It will then proceed west (via roundabout) on LaCenter Road/Cowlitz Way and end at ilani Casino Resort parking.
Any members of the public wishing to view the procession are encouraged to do so at any point along the procession route. Viewers are asked to keep in mind that congregating along Interstate 5 is prohibited by law and is generally discouraged due to hazards and narrow shoulders. If motorists encounter the procession on Interstate 5 they are requested to pull over to the side of the roadway and stop until the procession passes. Please do not attempt to cut into or interfere with the procession.
There are numerous overpasses that will be along the procession route. If citizens wish to view the procession from an overpass, they are asked to not park vehicles or stand in the roadway. During the procession, motorists should expect extended delays along northbound onramps along Interstate 5 as the procession moves toward the LaCenter/Cowlitz Way exit (Exit 16).
The Memorial Service is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 3). The public is invited to attend. Parking for the public will be clearly marked. No photography or videography will be allowed inside ilani, except for those already designated by the Brown family.
Vancouver Church, located at 3300 NE 78th Street, has opened their facility and will be a satellite location for overflow public viewing of the service, which will be livestreamed. The link is below: https://www.youtube.com/user/KGWNewsChannel8.Â
