VANCOUVER – Clark County Community Development is hosting monthly workshops on a variety of services the department provides. Community Development Learning Labs take place every third Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. Residents can attend the in-person sessions or watch a post-session video recording on the county’s website.
Learning Lab sessions are held in room 679 in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. and are open to the public. Registration is not required.
The Learning Lab sessions cover an array of subjects including:
- How to obtain a residential building permit
- Permitting a home business
- How to schedule a building inspection and what to expect
- Dog bite prevention
- Code Enforcement process, and more!
During the May Learning Lab, Fire Marshal staff discussed home fire safety and how to establish a defensible space around a home in wildfire danger areas.
Community Development staff developed the content for the series by reviewing the most frequently asked questions they received over the past couple of years.
“We started the Learning Lab sessions in part to increase public outreach and understanding of the services Community Development provides to the community,” said Community Development Director April Furth. “I think in the long run, this can be a time saver for both our customers and staff.”
Community Development has many programs including Animal Protection and Control, Building Safety, Code Enforcement, Development Engineering, Fire Marshal’s Office, Land Use Review, the Permit Center and Wetland and Habitat Review.
Join us for this month’s presentation about stormwater application and plan submittal for minimum requirements 1-5. See upcoming Learning Lab topics and watch previous presentations on the county’s website at https://clark.wa.gov/community-development/learning-lab.
