The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington created the regional giving day to help nonprofits raise awareness and funds for programs serving Clark, Cowlitz and Skamania County residents

VANCOUVER — The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington opened nonprofit registration for Give More 24!, the region’s largest online giving event. Scheduled for September 22, nonprofits can learn more and register to participate at givemore24.org before the registration deadline on June 30.

The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington created the regional giving day to help nonprofits raise awareness and funds for programs serving Clark, Cowlitz and Skamania County residents. Give More 24! encourages people to support participating organizations from midnight to midnight by donating at www.givemore24.org. Over the past eight years, the event has empowered nonprofits to raise more than $12 million dollars from donors looking to support southwest Washington causes. Last year, 207 nonprofit organizations participated, and 6,609 donors helped them raise $3.3 million before midnight.

The last two years brought the highest nonprofit participation in the event’s history. Janie Spurgeon, chief development officer at the Community Foundation, said this reflects the ways nonprofits have adapted to two years without in-person fundraising events. Spring and fall are big seasons for fundraising, and Spurgeon said some nonprofits have still been reluctant to schedule events due to safety concerns for their staff and supporters.

“Most of us have learned to plan for contingencies during the pandemic, but this has huge costs on our employees and revenue,” Spurgeon said. “Give More 24! has been one thing nonprofits can count on through it all, but it still hasn’t come close to making up for what’s been lost.”

Nonprofits pay a sliding scale fee to register and gain access to a library of tools and resources to assist in building an online fundraising campaign, including peer-to-peer fundraising and social media guides. With these tools, nonprofits rally supporters to make tax-deductible gifts via the Give More 24! website on Thu., September 22. The site features a secure donation form that tallies donations in real-time, allowing everyone to track the progress of their favorite nonprofits and the overall totals for Give More 24!
