Incident is the third this week at or near the school’s campus
A student from another high school suffered a laceration to his arm in a disturbance that took place on the grounds at Heritage High School Thursday morning.
On Thursday (Feb. 25) at about 10:40 a.m., Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Heritage High School for an assault with a knife on school grounds. Deputies arrived and contacted several Heritage High School students and one Mountain View High School student.
A preliminary investigation indicated several juvenile males were in dispute over an alleged allegation made by another student. The Mountain View student arrived with a knife to support one of the Heritage students.
An altercation unfolded among several students resulting in the Mountain View student receiving a laceration to his arm by the knife he brought to the school. Another Heritage student suffered a minor injury. The minor injury is believed not to be caused by the knife. The Mountain View student was transported to a local hospital for a non-life threatening injury.
It is unknown at this time how the Mountain View student was allowed into the Heritage High School campus. It is believed today’s incident is not related to last week’s shooting incident which occurred next to Heritage High School.
On Friday (Feb. 18) at about noon, CCSO deputies responded to a disturbance with a weapon at the 7300 block of NE 131st avenue just south of Heritage High School. Deputies arrived and located one juvenile male with a gunshot injury to the arm.
There were at least 20 to 30 Heritage High School students gathered around during the incident. The juvenile male was treated and taken to the hospital. A preliminary investigation indicates the shooting is a result of an ongoing dispute among rival gangs.
A citizen reported to Clark County Today that a fight also occurred just off the Heritage High School campus on Wednesday. That citizen indicated a gun was present at that incident but was not fired.
The investigation of Friday’s incident is being handled by the Tactical Detectives Unit.
