Deputy identified as 46-year-old Jeremy Brown, a 15-year veteran of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office
A Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot and killed Friday evening.
A news release from the CCSO late Friday night confirmed the news. On Saturday, the officer was identified as 46-year-old Jeremy Brown, who had been with the department for 15 years as a corrections deputy, patrol deputy and was currently assigned as a detective.
“It is with great sadness the Clark County Sheriff’s Office is informing the community a deputy was killed in the line of duty this evening,’’ read the statement from the CCSO. “This is a difficult time for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement agencies in Clark County and the surrounding Clark County, Portland metro area.
“Clark County law enforcement appreciates the support and understanding of the community in these tough times. The investigation is in its early stages and information will be releases as it becomes available.’’
The statement indicated that further updates will come from the Vancouver Police Department.
Friday evening, the Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency (CRESA) issued an alert asking residents to stay clear of the area near I-205 and NE 87the St.
“There is heavy law enforcement activity for 3 suspects who may be armed and dangerous,’’ stated the CRESA alert. “If you live in this area PLEASE stay in your home.’’
The suspects were two Hispanic males who were said to be armed and dangerous. News reports indicate two of the suspects are now in custody. According to a report from the Vancouver Police Department, one suspect remains at large.
The shooting reportedly took place at The Pointe apartments, located at 3708 NE 109th Avenue in Vancouver.
