Suspect, who was armed with a handgun, was found deceased a short distance away from the scene of the shooting
Deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) were involved in an officer-involved shooting Sunday.
On Sunday (Oct. 17) at about 2:22 a.m., CCSO deputies initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle associated with an individual they had probable cause to arrest for Assault 1 with a handgun. The suspect failed to comply with a traffic stop and a pursuit ensued. CCSO deputies conducted a successful PIT maneuver in the area of NE 122nd Avenue and NE 49th Street and the vehicle was immobilized.
The suspect exited the vehicle, armed with a handgun and failed to comply with deputies. A subsequent officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was located a short distance away deceased in possession of a handgun.
The Southwest Washington Regional Independent Investigation Team is conducting the investigation and future press releases.
Involved deputies were placed on critical incident leave per standard protocol.
