Monday morning, crews with Clark County’s contractor, Tapani Inc., of Battle Ground, will close approximately 0.25 miles of Northeast 10th Avenue. During the closure, contractors will complete work to improve the roadway, starting with replacing an aging culvert. Local access will be maintained from the north for a small number of homes and other properties along this section of roadway.

Through-traffic will use alternate routes for the duration of the project. Alternate routes during the closure include Northwest 11th Avenue to the west and Northeast 20th and Northeast 15th avenues to the east.

The closure is anticipated to be in place for approximately 12 months; however, the work is weather dependent and may be extended in the event of inclement weather.

The two intersections will remain open to traffic at this time. Drivers are urged to use caution for flaggers on the roadway shoulders and should anticipate one-way traffic with flaggers that could cause delays.

The roadway will be improved to include two travel lanes, a center left-turn lane, bike lanes and sidewalks, as well as a signal at the Northeast 149th Street intersection. A new culvert will be installed at the creek crossing just north of Northeast 149th Street. As part of this project, the roadway surface will be raised as much as 15 feet and the intersection of Northeast 149th Street will be raised by approximately eight feet. Other improvements include the construction of retaining walls, stormwater facilities and a sanitary sewer main and water main.
