WOODLAND — Deputies with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Ridgefield and La Center police departments, responded to a report of a disturbance with a weapon at 4418 NE Hayes Road, in Woodland, on Oct. 16 at 2:56 a.m.
According to a news release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the victim had armed himself with a shotgun and was outside his residence investigating a suspicious male. The suspicious male, identified as 39-year-old Timothy R. Surrena, then took the shotgun from the victim and proceeded to assault the victim by using the shotgun as a striking weapon, and hitting the victim in the face and head several times.
Surrena then left the victim’s residence firing rounds into the air, eventually making his way to a residence at 4403 NW Hayes Road.
Deputies and officers located and surrounded the residence, and the Southwest Washington Regional SWAT Team arrived at the location and later took Surrena into custody without incident.
Surrena was transported to the Clark County Jail and booked for first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and theft of a firearm. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit detectives were on the scene and are investigating the incident.
