VANCOUVER – Clark College has introduced a new speaker series to help its many supporters in the community better understand and advocate for the college.
The new “Business and Community Learning Series” is designed to provide training to the 200 volunteers who serve on the college 28 technical program advisory boards; local businesses that provide internships and jobs to Clark students; and anyone interested in helping support the college’s mission in the community.
There will be four Business and Community Learning Series sessions during the 2016-17 academic year. The brown-bag “lunch and learn” format is designed to allow people to participate during their lunch hour (lunch not provided).
All events in the series are free and open to the public.
The first event in the series, “Legislative Advocacy & You,” is scheduled for Friday, December 9, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Gaiser Student Center on the college’s main campus, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way. This presentation will include speakers from Clark’s student government, Veterans Resource Center, and administrative leadership discussing practical but powerful strategies for legislative advocacy at the state and federal level, using the example of Clark’s Veterans Resource Center.

Located in Vancouver’s Central Park and serving up to 13,000 students per quarter, Clark College is Washington State’s second-largest single-campus, for-credit community college. The college currently offers classes at two satellite locations: one on the Washington State University Vancouver campus and one in the Columbia Tech Center in East Vancouver.
