Chelatchie Prairie Railroad has several event train rides coming up

YACOLT — As the fall season continues and gives way to winter, several different themed train rides, that usual correspond with holidays, will be offered on the Chelatchie Prairie Railroad.

 

Coming up Sat., Oct. 29 and Sun., Oct. 30, the railroad will host its Headless Horseman Halloween Train. This train ride is offered at three different times on these two days — 9:30 a.m., noon and 2:30 p.m.

In November, a Patriot’s Weekend Run will take place on Sat., Nov. 12 and Sun., Nov. 13, with runs at noon and 2:30 p.m. That weekend will also include a Patriot’s Weekend Wine Run on Sat., Nov. 12, at 2:30 p.m. Guests who go on the wine run will purchase tickets and board the train at Moulton Falls Winery.

For those looking to plan ahead, the Christmas Tree Special Trains will start during the last weekend of November. On Sat., Nov. 26 and Sun., Nov. 27, the Christmas Tree Train will run at 9:30 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. In December, the Christmas Tree Train will run Sat., Dec. 3 and Sun., Dec. 4, at 9:30 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.; and also Sat., Dec. 10 and Sun., Dec. 11, with runs at 9:30 a.m., noon and 2:30 p.m.

 

 

The Steam Winter Finale will be held on Sat., Dec. 17 and Sun., Dec. 18, at noon and 2:30 p.m. Regular steam fares will apply on this last weekend, and there will be a visit from Santa Claus and refreshments provided.

 

 

Regular fares for the diesel engine are $16 for adults, $15 for seniors 60 and older, $11 for youth ages 5-12, $9 for children ages 2-4 and free for children younger than 2. Regular fares for the steam engine are $20 for adults, $19 for seniors 60 and older, $15 for youth ages 5-12, $13 for children ages 2-4 and free for children younger than 2.

Christmas packages include four passenger tickets and Doug Fir tree for $65; four passenger tickets and Grand Fir tree for $75; and four passenger tickets and Noble Fir tree for $85. Additional trees can be added to any package or purchased separately at the following prices: Doug Fir ($20), Grand Fir ($30), Noble Fir ($40).
