Starting next fall, remote learning options will not be offered at Battle Ground Public Schools’ comprehensive buildings
Parents planning to change their students’ learning program for the 2021-22 school year should make the decision soon. Starting next fall, remote learning options will not be offered at Battle Ground Public Schools’ comprehensive buildings. Students currently learning remotely through their neighborhood school will be automatically enrolled in full-time in-person learning next fall. Students wishing to remain in a remote learning model are encouraged to take advantage of the district’s alternative learning programs that offer remote and hybrid options.
Committing now to a school or program helps the district ensure it will have sufficient staffing to support students at each school and grade level, as the vast majority of teaching staff are hired in the spring.
Students currently attending an alternative program within the district can return to their neighborhood school in the fall by calling the school directly at this time. Contact information for each school is on the district website.
Returning students who are not currently enrolled in a Battle Ground school and students who are new to the district need to enroll online. Information about enrolling new students is on the district website at battlegroundps.org/enroll.
Battle Ground Public Schools is proud to offer our community a variety of educational options to meet students’ personalized learning needs. In addition to our highly-rated comprehensive K-12 schools, students have access to Alternative Learning Experience programs that offer online, at-home, and flexible learning options. (Note: Transportation is not provided to/from alternative programs.)
- River Online Learning (remote option)
River Online Learning (ROL) is an accredited program that offers online courses to students in grades K-12. Students have the ability to learn at their own pace with teacher support and progress monitoring. Certificated teachers support student success through email, online consultations and face-to-face meetings. ROL offers courses on a variety of subjects through several providers. Self-motivated, goal-oriented students who work best in a quiet, self-paced environment excel in this program. Parent assistance may be necessary for younger students to be successful. ROL enrollment information is available online.
- River HomeLink (hybrid and at-home option)
River HomeLink is a family-friendly, accredited, award-winning public school that provides a range of parent-partnered educational options and supports for kindergarten through 12th grade students living within the Battle Ground Public Schools district. Families can choose from part or full-time programs that provide both at-home and classroom opportunities. River HomeLink was designated a 2018 Washington School of Distinction, marking the third year the school has received this designation. Families interested in River HomeLink as an option for the 2021-22 school year are invited to complete RHL’s new student interest form online at riv.battlegroundps.org.
- Summit View High School (flexible option)
Summit View High School is an alternative high school that offers flexible scheduling and personalized learning. Some students may have responsibilities that make attending a comprehensive high school difficult or they may be looking for an alternative program. Summit View High School allows students to have a job, graduate early or recover credits. Students take four classes at a time and complete the vast majority of their school work at home. Students meet weekly with dedicated teachers who work with them to design a schedule and instructional program that helps students to achieve their educational goals. The school is located in the CASEE C Building at 11104 NE 149th Street, Brush Prairie. Enrollment information about Summit View High School is online at svhs.battlegroundps.org or by calling (360) 885-5331.
Enroll now
If families would like their student to attend a school or program in the fall that they are not currently attending, enroll with that school for 2021-22. Students who want to continue with their current program do not need to do anything; however, if they are in a remote program at their neighborhood school and want to stay in a remote learning model, they will need to choose an alternative program such as River Online Learning.
Before and after school care
District officials are excited to announce a new partnership with Right At School, a nationally recognized school enrichment provider, for before and after school care at Battle Ground’s primary schools and Amboy Middle School. Starting in the fall of 2021, Right At School will offer the program to students in kindergarten through eighth grades.
