Pedestrian was run over by work van just before midnight Wednesday
A 23-year-old Battle Ground man was struck and killed by a work van just before midnight Wednesday in North Clark County. The man was identified as Jordan A. Soliday.
Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies and EMS personnel responded to a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in the 12700 block of NE 359th Street. When the first responders arrived, they found Soliday lying in the roadway. He had been struck by a Ford transit work van that was traveling west on NE 359th Street, which is a two-lane rural road north of Battle Ground with a 50 mph speed limit and no shoulder.
The driver of the work van was identified as 57-year-old Aleksandr Kechick, a resident of Brush Prairie. Kechick told officers that Soliday had crossed directly into his path from the south side of the roadway.
After the collision, Kechik and a passerby provided aid to Soliday until EMS personnel arrived. Soliday was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. He died at the hospital at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
Kechik provided a statement to deputies and remained at the scene. Kechik was not arrested nor was he issued any citations.
