A total of 343 U.S. flags will adorn the lawns of three Clark County Fire District 6 stations Friday (Sept. 10) afternoon. The flags represent the number of fallen New York Firefighters who lost their lives during the 9/11 attack 20 years ago.
Firefighters and Fire Cadets started planting the miniature flags at 1 p.m. at three stations:
• Station 61: 8800 NE Hazel Dell Avenue, Vancouver 98684
• Station 62 : 11600 NW Lakeshore Drive, Felida
• Station 63 : 1303 NE 136th Street, Vancouver WA 98685
It will take roughly one hour to plant all 343 flags, at which time flags will be lowered to half staff.
