1,200 scientists, scholars: ‘There is no climate emergency’

‘Scientists should openly address uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions’

Led by a Nobel Prize laureate, more than 1,100 scientists and scholars have signed a document declaring climate science is based more on personal beliefs and political agendas than sound, rigorous science.

The World Climate Declaration states climate science “should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific.”

“Scientists should openly address uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, while politicians should dispassionately count the real costs as well as the imagined benefits of their policy measures,” the declaration reads.

The declaration was organized by Climate Intelligence, an independent policy foundation founded in 2019 by Dutch emeritus professor of geophysics Guus Berkhout and Dutch science journalist Marcel Crok.

The U.K. website the Daily Sceptic reported one of the lead authors of the declaration, atmospheric physicist Richard Lindzen, has called the current climate narrative “absurd.” Yet relentless propaganda from grant-dependent academics and agenda-driven journalists has generated a widely accepted narrative that the science is “settled.”

“We should free ourselves from the naïve belief in immature climate models,” the WCD states. “”In future, climate research must give significantly more emphasis to empirical science.”

Last week, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act, which spends $368 billion for “green” energy with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030. When Joe Biden was vice president under Barack Obama, the administration subsidized “green” energy with federal grants and tax breaks. Joe Biden himself announced in 2009 a $535 million loan guarantee for the solar panel company Solyndra to go along with $700 million in venture capital funding. Biden said the plant built with that money would power more than half a million homes. But two years later, the company filed for bankruptcy and shut down its operations.

The World Climate Declaration points out that since emerging from the Little Ice Age in the mid-19th century, the world has warmed significantly less than predicted by the U.N.’s International Panel on Climate Change’s models

“The gap between the real world and the modeled world tells us that we are far from understanding climate change,” the WCD states.

The declaration argues Earth’s climate has varied, with cold and warm periods, for as long as the planet has existed, and it is “no surprise that we are experiencing a period of warming.”

The climate models “are not remotely plausible as global policy tools,” ignoring, for one, the benefits of carbon dioxide, which is “not a pollutant.”

“It is essential to all life on Earth,” the declaration says. “Photosynthesis is a blessing. More CO2 is beneficial for nature, greening the Earth; additional CO2 in the air has promoted growth in global plant biomass. It is also good for agriculture, increasing the yield of crops worldwide.”

There is no statistical evidence, the signatories say, “that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and such-like natural disasters, or making them more frequent.”

“There is no climate emergency. We strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy proposed for 2050.”

Last year, Steven Koonin, an under-secretary of science in the Obama administration, published a book titled “Unsettled” that said “the science is insufficient to make useful projections about how the climate will change over the coming decades, much less what our actions will be.”

The idea that climate change is settled demeans and chills the scientific enterprise, he contended, “retarding its progress in these important matters.”

In 2020, the long-time green activist Michael Shellenberger wrote a book called “Apocalypse Never” that lamented the conversation about climate change has “spiraled out of control.”

Are the opinions of 1,200 scientists greater than the opinions of the millions of other scientists? Interesting to have this categorized under “news” here.

There are about 127 scientists worldwide. The term ‘scientist’ was first used by a priest called William Whewell in 1833. Today any dimwit with a first degree in a field connected to physics, chemistry, biology or even medicine might claim to be a scientist. Science is a process of logical enquiry but most of the people who self-describe themselves as ‘scientists’ are actually fairly low level technologists.
Real scientists are thinkers and philosophers who use the rules of science to try and falsify their own conclusions. Most academics don’t work that way and can therefore be dismissed as teachers of known facts (which is admirable but doesn’t make them scientists).
Think of the likes of Einstein, Franklin, Jefferson, Gold, Feynman and the ilk – free thinkers rather than those who play the game chasing research grants and add little to human understanding.

You are incorrect in that anyone with a science degree is indeed a scientist but not all are necessarily working in their field of training. And their are leves of scientists from BS, MS, to PhD which is obvious. So, I believe your view is too narrow. The only thing that really matters is that the difference between facts and opinion should be clearly held. That said, I would agree that “Bill Nye the Science Guy” a big proponent of “Climate Emergency” is NOT a scientist.

Millions of scientists? You have been greatly deceived by the political propaganda I’m afraid. An absolutely bogus figure based on your deceived/indoctrinated opinion. If you are correct, debate with facts, no hyperbole.

It’s easier to be payed off and agree with a mob than it is to be one of the few that stands up and speaks truth at their own expense. I’m guessing you also believe “fact checkers” and only use google as well, dont you?

      What millions of other scientists?
If you care to look, even the “97% of scientists agree…” bullshonet was roundly debunked years ago.

Well we can give you the names of the 1200 climate scientists, and in fact, many more who are climate scientists can you give me the name of the millions of other scientists and pick up the ones that are relevant to climate science and then can you find the study or studies by these relevant scientists, that prove anything if you can, please share them with us.
      Thanks.

Yes, their opinions are. The “scientists” claiming that we are in a climate change crisis have been paid by their governments to produce reports that fit their agenda. People like you are either delusional our paid to post nonsense like this

Millions of other scientists have independently proven that we’re all gonna die soon from climate change if the world govt doesn’t ban us from eating meat, force us into 15 min cities and controllable electric vehicles created from destructive mining using child slave labor, and steal half of our income in taxes? Can you name these millions of scientists? Did you know ALL great scientific discoveries were not done by the masses, but by a few very imaginative men who did not follow the groupthink of the crowd? Sometimes they were put to death for their heresy. Climate alarmism is a hoax just like pandemic fear mongering. It’s about control and money. That’s it. Don’t be such an easily manipulated sheep.

    My humble suggestion:

United Nations should invite international scientists of different viewpoints to attend an open public forum and discuss the climate issues.

The same should have been done by the WHO in relation to SARS-CoV2. It would have been fascinating to have Fauci and Walensky participate!
It is not too late, particularly with increasing breakthrough cases – particularly in those with 2x or 4x Jabs.!

Spot on, miki – I found it hard to believe at first, but his actions confirm it 100%. Fauci has done little in-depth lab work or research, and does not even have a PhD. Not that all PhD holders are credible scientists!!!! Some are, some are not. Just follow the money.
Common sense is all that is needed to see the subterfuge for what it is.
Fauci comes across as someone with zero ethics, zero compassion, 100% narcissistic bombasticity, and an expert liar. Whatever positive traits he may have as a person is not reflected in his public persona.

            So true, Wolfie.
Fauci has served under seven US presidents, starting with Reagan who agreed to give vaccine makers 100% exemption from any and all liability. People Power is needed to have H.R. 5546 revoked. It is evil.
The fear of a virus is irrational and has been used to create chaos and destruction. Viruses were on this planet long before humankind. We must learn to co-exist with diversity, and stop treating different species as mortal enemies.
The logic in your posts is refreshing and always a joy to read.

It came from my previous post (see below) suggesting an open public forum on climate change; the same should have been done with the plandemic.

“United Nations should invite international scientists of different viewpoints to attend an open public forum and discuss the climate issues.
The same should have been done by the WHO in relation to SARS-CoV2. It would have been fascinating to have Fauci and Walensky participate!”

It would be fantastic to have top international scientists with diverse opinions come together to discuss climate change. Unusual events are happening around the world, so it would be enlightening to learn what the experts have to say, ie the causes, solution options, the changes required and how to transition from the current problem to the proposed solution.

My apologies, Richard D, I got carried away in my reply to miki and Wolfie.
Thank you for drawing my attention to my mistake.

The Climate variables are stochastic variables, meaning they are unpredictable and only computable as some probabillity with specific preconditions assumed. You just cannot postulate that average temperatures are going to increase 2 degrees in some fixed future; with giving precise preconditions. We can only work with probabilites, based on a few thousand years of inadequate accumulated data.

1200 scientists are more scientists than the original “consensus” was based on to the best of my recollection. This report is reality based. The “emergency” is based on a computer model based on deliberately imputed data. This has always been just another scam for control and to drive citizens of the world into poverty while seizing that control. And further stripping us of our rights. In my learned opinion.

I sincerely hope that the 1200 climate scientists marks the beginning of true collaboration with other scientists, irrespective of diverse opinions, to share research results with the public openly and honestly. Unlike dogma, science is based on factual evidence that must be demonstrable as well as repeatable.
Whether we like it or not, we all inhabit the same planet. It is our shared duty to nurture the wellbeing of our shared planet to maintain clean environments, food supplies, and the multitude of needs of all living things that are dependent on planet health. Our oceans are polluted, the icebergs are melting, permafrost is on the rise.
The growing number of extinct species is of concern and must be addressed.
Humans are humans and health is health – this is an undeniable fact that neither color, beliefs, gender, religion, ethnicity, culture, nationality, status, or anything else can change.
All living beings on earth are dependent on our planet’s continued wellness.
Logically, therefore, anything pertaining to matters of wellness must follow a collaborative and bipartisan process. Only then will we have any hope of achieving a Win-Win result that benefits all.

The last time the fossil fuel industry trotted out a group of “scientists, it turned out most of them had BA’s in anything from biology to agriculture science.

I’ll stick with the peer-reviewed climate scientists.

WELL DONE AND THANK YOU – About time this ridiculous charade was called out by a larger scientific community. ANY lay person can spend a few hours doing simple research and come to the same conclusions above. I have. Most climate models take too smaller averages and either take chunks of graphs that satisfy the narrative or doctor evidence to support their lies. Those who have been “bought” by the establishment decide on the results the politicians want and then manage the data to fit their story. This is not even close to science – its called propaganda. When you take in larger time lines and cycles then the picture opens up and we see that we are heading for a time of global cooling driven quite obviously by the sun and cosmic matters as a precursor to more local earthly matters. Sadly it is not just the climate that is being treated with such abuse. The problem however starts with us – we must not accept lies and we must all be called to do our own research and to stand up and demand the truth. I hope that it does not take an earth shattering event to wake everyone up to the need to take personal responsibility for our beautiful earth. Isabel

What shoddy reporting, the list of signatories includes dead people, gas and oil executives, known conspiracy theorists with no scientific training, politicians, airline pilots, fishermen, and shockingly few actual scientists. What a compelling piece of journalistic nonsense.

The WEF is the group of billionaire elitists and Fourth Reich Nazis behind the climate change activism to get control of every country. Using the UN and Communist Chinese as police, their real plan is to kill off more than 6 billion people and stop any repopulating by using gain of function to produce vaccines to sterilize and kill. They can’t stand the thought of us peasants ruining their world. Then their goal is to produce an Arian race. It’s all a continuation of Hitler’s Plan.

If there were 3 scientists who said global warming and climate change were somewhere between exaggerated and outright false, I would consider it worth investigating, and I would want to study everything they put forth.
