Evergreen School Board selects Rachel Rogers as new board member

Rogers to fill Director 4 position left vacant when Todd Yuzuriha resigned

VANCOUVER — The Evergreen School Board Directors has selected Rachel Rogers to fill Director 4 position left vacant when Todd Yuzuriha resigned. Rogers was one of five candidates interviewed and brought forward for consideration at tonight’s School Board meeting. Rogers will be sworn in at the March 12 School Board meeting.

Rogers and her husband are parents of two young children, one of whom is a first-grader at Fisher’s Landing Elementary.  As a Clark County Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, she holds a law degree from Willamette University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and French from Northeastern University. She cites her commitment to public service as well as volunteer activities, including coaching Hockinson High School’s Mock Trial team, as part of her interest in seeking the Board position.

“I was very fortunate to receive an excellent public education and I am committed to ensuring the children in our community receive the same opportunities I received,” stated Rogers during the application process.

The appointment of Rogers as a Board member is for the remainder of 2019. The position will be up for election for a four-year term in November.

Evergreen Public Schools, with 25,000 students and 3,300 staff members, is the sixth largest school district in the state, and the third largest employer in Clark County.
