WorkSource to host event to help Camas mill workers with their job search

Information session to be held Thu., May 24 in Vancouver

VANCOUVER — To help Georgia-Pacific’s Camas Mill workers that are facing layoffs plan for their job search, WorkSource will host an information session on Thu., May 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. at WorkSource, 204 SE Stonemill Drive, Suite 215, Vancouver.

The WorkSource manufacturing sector team will be on-hand to help mill workers with services and information, including unemployment insurance, retraining, Trade Act (TAA), starting a business, resume writing, interviewing tips, skills assessments, connections to other services and more.

WorkSource is in contact with more than 27 local employers that are eager to interview and hire the mill workers who are losing their jobs. Among the positions for which they are hiring are: process engineers, instrumentation technicians, training managers, millwrights, pipefitters, maintenance planners, production operators, electricians, engineers, quality control inspectors, inventory control and more.

Job seekers can create an account and profile on www.WorkSourceWA.com to post their resume or create one, and gain exposure to employers that have job openings. Information on training and workshops is also available on the site.

WorkSource is a partnership of state agencies, training and education providers, colleges and community organizations that provide employment and training services to businesses and job seekers. WorkSource assists employers to recruit and screen for qualified applicants, provides wage reimbursement opportunities through on-the-job trainings, and supplies cost-savings information on employment tax credits.
