Woodland police investigate threat made at high school

Police response in Woodland comes one day after a Hockinson student made similar threats, for which the student was arrested

For the second time this week, an area high school has faced turmoil following threats made by a student.

The Woodland Police Department reported Tuesday afternoon that a student threatened to come back to the high school next week and cause harm. That came a day after a Hockinson High School student was arrested for making threats toward classmates.

“The Woodland Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into this incident and will release more information as it comes available,” the department said in a press release.

A Hockinson High School student was arrested by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of threatening to bomb or injure property after a tip Monday.

The sheriff’s office was made aware of threatening statements by the student, who was not identified in a press release, toward classmates at about 6 p.m.

Working with the school district, detectives with the Tactical Detective Unit of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation and developed probable cause to arrest the student, who was subsequently booked into Clark County Juvenile Detention.

“The Sheriff’s Office would like to echo the Hockinson school district’s sentiment, if you hear something say something,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a press release.

KOIN reported the boy threatened to “shoot up” the Vancouver school, citing a source at the sheriff’s office.

There was an increased police presence at the school Tuesday.
