Closure will be between Thurston Way and I-5 in Vancouver
VANCOUVER — Travelers who use eastbound State Route 500 in Vancouver will need to use an alternate route this weekend.
Beginning on Fri., Aug. 16, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close all lanes of eastbound SR 500 between Northeast Thurston Way and Interstate 5, as part of a project to pave this vital stretch of roadway.
Closure details
- From 10 p.m. Fri., Aug. 16, until 5 a.m. Mon., Aug. 19: All lanes of eastbound SR 500 between Northeast Thurston Way and I-5 will close.
- During the closure, crews will pave the highway, widen the on-ramps from Northeast Falk Road/42nd Avenue and Northeast Stapleton Road/54th Avenue to SR 500, and install new pavement markings.
- Travelers should plan to use an alternate route during the closure.
- The work is weather dependent.
Construction details
Work to preserve this nearly 6-mile stretch of the highway began Aug. 5, and will continue through early fall. Travelers should expect delays on both directions of SR 500 between I-5 and Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard (State Route 503) due to intermittent overnight single and double lane closures.
Travelers should slow down in the work zone and expect delays of up to 20 minutes.
