City is asking residents to limit all non-urgent trips to the coupon’s designated free drop-off sites at this time
VANCOUVER — The city of Vancouver is extending its annual spring coupon program to July 31, and urging residents to stay home and wait to use the free yard-debris-and-tire drop-off coupons.
The popular coupons are sent to all single-family residential garbage customers within the City of Vancouver with an active Waste Connections account. However, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and Washington’s Stay Home order, Vancouver Solid Waste Services is asking residents to limit all non-urgent trips to the coupon’s designated free drop-off sites at this time.
Vancouver customers who receive paper bills from Waste Connections were sent coupons in their April bill. Customers who have paperless billing or don’t get a regular paper Waste Connections bill had their coupons mailed by postcard in early April. Copies and digital coupons are not allowed under this program. Requirements and designated drop-off sites are printed on the coupons.
The annual coupon program is provided by the city of Vancouver’s Solid Waste Services, part of the Department of Public Works, to help residents with spring yard cleanup and safe disposal of old tires, which can create a nuisance.
Residents who have an urgent need to use coupons at this time and cannot wait until Washington’s Stay Home order changes should call ahead, as hours and safety requirements at drop-off sites have changed. Be prepared to bring and use your own disinfectant, and strictly maintain physical distancing requirements. All self-haul loads must be covered.
Likewise, residents are being asked to delay trips to regional recycling and garbage transfer stations, where high volumes are causing extreme traffic backups and delays, and the potential for unsafe conditions due to the need for greater physical distancing. If not necessary, please don’t go.
