Vancouver man arrested for attempted murder

VANCOUVER — A Vancouver man has been arrested for Attempted Murder 1 after a stabbing incident in east Vancouver Friday afternoon.

According to information provided by the Vancouver Police Department, at 1:15 p.m. deputies responded to the Wilco store located at 1901 NE 162nd Ave. in Vancouver for the report of a disturbance in the parking lot involving a weapon.

When police arrived, they located a man who was being held down by several citizens and another male who had been stabbed in the face and neck that was being tended to by other bystanders. The victim, reportedly 55 years old, was transported to an area hospital for serious injuries. 

According to the Vancouver Police Department news release, the quick intervention of the citizens who witnessed the assault clearly saved the victim’s life.

This assault appears to be random, the suspect and the victim are unknown to one another.   

The suspect, Nathan A. Karch, 33, of Vancouver was interviewed by detectives from the Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Team and subsequently arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail for Attempted Murder I.
