Vancouver Police Department to participate in Virtual Law Enforcement Torch Run

Event will benefit Special Olympics Washington

VANCOUVER — Special Olympics Washington will host the first Virtual Law Enforcement Torch Run Sat., June 6, at 9 a.m. The Vancouver Police Department will have 11 “runners’’ join the more than 550 participants from around the state who will “run’’ and move together for 20 minutes and 20 seconds. 

The goal of the event is to raise funds to deliver sports and health programming to more than 19,500 Special Olympics Washington athletes. The Vancouver Police Department has raised $745 in support of this event.

Traditionally, the Torch Run has been held in person with hundreds of law enforcement representatives carrying the “Flame of Hope” to the annual state Spring Games which have been canceled due to COVID-19.
