Opportunities available to speak to mayor, council members and city staff at three open houses in August
VANCOUVER — The city of Vancouver will seek public input about a package of proposed safety, parks and economic development investments known as the Stronger Vancouver initiative at three community open houses in August.
Community feedback is an important part of the Stronger Vancouver process, as city council works to refine the proposed package.
All three open houses will take place between 4 and 7 p.m., with short presentations at 4:30 and 6 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
- Wed., Aug. 21 at the Red Cross Building, 605 Barnes St.
- Thu., Aug. 22 at the Firstenburg Community Center, 700 N.E. 136th Ave.
- Tue., Aug. 27 at the Water Resources Education Center, 4600 Columbia Way
The mayor, city council members and city staff will be in attendance at all three events. Residents will be able to learn more about the proposed projects, speak to elected officials and staff, and share their input and ideas.
In addition to the open houses, city staff is attending numerous community events throughout the summer to engage with residents and gather feedback. Look for the city’s Stronger Vancouver booth at concerts, farmers markets and movies in the parks.
An online survey is also available until Sept. 15 for those who cannot attend an event or open house.
In May 2017, the Vancouver City Council convened an Executive Sponsors Council (ESC) to work with the city and the community to develop recommendations for a range of projects and programs intended to keep our city thriving over the next decade. After two years of working on this initiative, the ESC delivered its recommendations to city council this past April.
