After a national search, the Trust Board brought forward three candidates to meet locally with staff, board, partners and community leaders.

“Greg Goode brought to us a vision of opportunity and outreach for the Trust that was aspirational”, explains Graham. “With his experience of successfully raising millions of dollars for the construction of buildings and the support of educational and leadership programs, we believe he is poised to broaden our outreach and footprint across the region.”

Goode currently serves as executive director of Government Relations for Indiana State University with more than 20 years of nonprofit, higher education, and public policy leadership experience in Indiana, Washington state, and California.  He is a co-founder of the Indiana Principal Leadership Institute on the Indiana State campus. Goode previously served as chief of staff at Bastyr University and was the founder and director of the University’s Center for Health Policy and Leadership in Seattle. He led a major campus expansion in Southern California working with the California Legislature, as well as business, education, and healthcare membership associations. From 1997-2002, Goode served on the staff of two members of the United States House of Representatives.

Goode earned two degrees from Indiana State University including a B.S. in Political Science and M.A. in History.  He completed post-graduate studies at the Catholic University of Washington. He is a PhD Candidate in Public Administration and Policy at Virginia Tech.

“I am deeply honored to have been selected as president and CEO of The Historic Trust,” said Goode. “It’s an amazing organization fulfilling an important mission that speaks directly to my heart.”

Mike Williams, Trust Board member and interim president and CEO, led the search committee and added, “Greg Goode was selected based on his vision to guide the organization forward, his passion for history, and his extensive experience growing programs by working with donors, elected officials, and community leaders.”
