No charges will be filed as the state patrol determined the unidentified man caused the collision by attempting to cross the roadway on foot
A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross State Route 14 in Vancouver Thursday, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The driver of the 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck that struck the victim, a man who has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, is not responsible for the fatality, according to a press memo detailing the incident.
The 49-year-old Vancouver man, who had an 18-year-old male passenger, was traveling east on State Route 14 just east of Columbia House at mile marker 1.5 at about 9 p.m. Thursday when the pedestrian, walking northbound, attempted to cross the roadway and was struck in the second lane, according to the state patrol.
The man died at the scene. The driver and passenger were not injured
The state patrol has declared the cause of the collision to be a pedestrian in the roadway. No charges will be filed.
It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol played any role in the incident, according to the state patrol.
