Maurer started as an entry-level firefighter for the district 20 years ago
VANCOUVER — Clark County Fire District 6 Fire Commissioners this week announced the selection of Kristan Maurer as the district’s new fire chief.
Maurer is not a newcomer to the district. She started as an entry-level firefighter for the district 20 years ago, and from that time she has served in nearly every position possible in District 6.
Nationally there are only 50 female fire chiefs, including the newly appointed fire chief of Portland Fire and Rescue, Chief Sara Boone.
Maurer graduated from Battle Ground High School, and has a Bachelors’ Degree in Fire Service Administration, a Masters’ Degree in Public Administration, and completed the Executive Fire Officer Program through the National Fire Academy.
The fire service is a family affair for Maurer, as her husband is an engineer for Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue.
Chief Maurer will work with current Fire Chief Jerry Green to make the leadership transition.
