Hockinson School Board selects four candidates to interview for superintendent position

District residents are invited to participate in a community forum Mon., March 4 beginning at 5 p.m. in the HHS multi-purpose room

HOCKINSON — The Hockinson School Board has selected four candidates from other western Washington school districts to interview for the position of superintendent.

The candidates are:

  • Steven Marshall, director of Educational Resources in Camas School District, which has 7,266 students.
  • Gary Neal, superintendent of Sequim School District, which has 2,866 students.
  • Ellen Perconti, superintendent of Mary Knight and Grapeview school districts, which have 1,053 and 224 students, respectively.
  • Tony Vandermaas, executive director of Leadership and Learning in Longview School District, which has 6,746 students.

The candidates will spend Mon., March 4, in the district for a series of interviews with teachers and classified staff, Hockinson High School students, principals and district office staff, and the School Board.

District residents are invited to participate in a community forum beginning at 5 p.m. in the HHS multi-purpose room. From 5 to 5:15 p.m., attendees may submit interview questions. Then, beginning at 5:30 p.m., they are invited to observe as candidates introduce themselves and are interviewed by Roger Rada of Northwest Leadership Associates, which is conducting the superintendent search process.

At the end of the interviews, attendees may submit feedback forms and join the candidates for conversation and refreshments.

The Board will meet Tue., March 5, to review the input and will announce a selection later in the week.
