Camas Police Department says suspects have been linked to additional crimes in Vancouver and Washington County, Oregon
CAMAS — Five suspects are now in custody after an early morning armed robbery that occurred at a home in Camas May 12, according to the Camas Police Department.
The arrests, which were made Wednesday, May 16 in the area of NE 29th Drive and NE 187th Avenue in Vancouver, came after three masked gunmen and one female entered a home in the 3900 block of NE Tacoma Court at about 2:30 a.m. and demanded money and valuable from two victims inside.
A gun was fired during the robbery, but there were no injuries, though one of the victims was assaulted, according to the police department.
The victims were able to identify the suspects due to prior contact and information from social media.
Wednesday’s arrests were made after detectives received a description of the vehicle involved — a light-colored, four-door sedan — using neighborhood surveillance video. The footage showed the vehicle dropping the suspects off just prior to the robbery.
Four people, including two female juveniles who were not identified by police, were arrested when officers located the vehicle and made a traffic stop. Two men, 19-year-old Jamil R. Timpke and 20-year-old Evan B. Barajas, were also arrested. A fifth suspect, 20-year-old Keonte D. Scott, was already being held in the Clark County Jail on an unrelated charge.
“Evidence collected and further investigation implicated all five suspects were involved in the robbery in Camas and other crimes in Vancouver and Washington County, Oregon,” according to a press release from the Camas Police Department. “The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Detective Unit and Vancouver Police Department Neighborhood Response Team assisted Camas Detectives in locating and apprehending the suspects.”
All five suspects have been charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and first-degree burglary.
