Candidate filing week begins Monday and lasts through Friday
Have you ever thought about seeking public office?
Depending on where you live and what your aspirations are, Monday might very well be your first opportunity to do so.
Candidate filing week begins at 8 a.m. Monday, May 14, and ends at 5 p.m. Friday, May 18, at the Clark County Elections Office, 1408 Franklin St., Vancouver.
Open offices this year include U.S. Senator; U.S. Representative, 3rd Congressional District; State Representative positions in the 14th, 17th, 18th, 20th and 49th Legislative Districts; three Supreme Court justice positions; one Court of Appeals justice position; all six District Court judge positions; Clark County Council chair and Clark County Council positions, districts 1 and 2; Clark County assessor, auditor, clerk, prosecuting attorney, sheriff and treasurer; Clark Public Utilities commissioner, district 1; Vancouver City Council position 1; and 287 Republican Precinct Committee officer positions and 287 Democratic Precinct Committee officer positions.

Filing fees must be paid in cash or check when filing in person.
Candidates also can file online from 9 a.m. Monday, May 14, through 4 p.m. Friday, May 18, at www.clarkvotes.org. Online filers must have valid email addresses and pay any filing fees using Visa or Mastercard.
All candidates, regardless of whether they file in person or online, must be U.S. citizens and be registered to vote in the jurisdiction for which they are filing.
This year’s primary will be held Aug. 7, followed by the general election on Nov. 6.
