In honor of national day, Clark County Drug Court is highlighting success stories and celebrating positive outcomes in therapeutic courts
In recognition of National Drug Court Month, Clark County Therapeutic Courts are holding a food drive for the Clark County Food Bank through Saturday, May 19.
Drop-off locations include the Center for Community Health second-floor lobby, 1601 E. Fourth Plain Blvd., the Clark County Public Service Center lobby, 1300 Franklin St., and all Clark County Les Schwab Tire Center locations.
In announcing the food drive, Clark County is also highlighting the success story of Marisa Neth, who graduated from Clark County Drug Court in 2003 and now works as a recovery support specialist in superior court.
“She has come full circle and now works alongside Superior Court Judge James E. Rulli, the judge who helped her through the drug court program almost 15 years ago,” the county said in a press release.
Therapeutic Specialty Courts have existed in Clark County 19 years and have been credited with reducing recidivism, improving outcomes and reducing costs. Along with drug court, the county also offers courts focused on mental health, veterans, families and juveniles.
Rulli said in the press release that the community benefits each time an individual in the county rises above drugs and related crime.
“Drug Courts save up to $27 for every $1 invested and up to $13,000 for every individual served,” he said.
Neth said National Drug Court Month is a time for graduates and participants of the program to remember the influence it has had on their lives.
The food drive is a way to give back to the community.
“Our goal is to donate 500 pounds of food to the food bank,” she said.
Non perishable food items can be donated through May 19 as part of the drive.
