Changes designed to reflect recently adopted state law
VANCOUVER — The Clark County Law Library announced that it has updated two of its legal form packets to reflect changes made by the Washington State Legislature. The updates are for residential eviction and garnishment packets.
The legal information packets contain forms and instructions intended to walk someone through a specific legal process. The Law Library sells the residential eviction packet for $60 and the garnishment packet for $30. Both prices include sales tax.
Packets are available at the Law Library on the first floor of the courthouse at 1200 Franklin St. The Library is open 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesday through Friday. The library accepts cash and debit or credit cards.
The state legislature adopted Senate Bill 5600 updating the structure of the eviction process and House Bill 1602 relating to garnishment after a court judgment has been obtained. Volunteer lawyers updated the forms and instructions in the form packets to reflect the changes in the laws.
The Law Library offers books and computer resources to help residents find answers to legal questions. It is a self-service facility. Staff can help find material but cannot give legal advice or interpretations. The library has other form packets for transfer on death deed, gun rights restoration, and filing suit against a contractor’s bond as well individual forms for a variety of legal processes.
