City of Vancouver seeks applicants for new positions on Salary Review Commission

Last year, the city’s Charter Review Commission recommended the Salary Review Commission be increased from five to seven members

VANCOUVER — The city of Vancouver is seeking applicants interested in filling two newly created positions on its volunteer Salary Review Commission. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Fri., Jan. 31, 2020.

Last year, the city’s Charter Review Commission recommended the Salary Review Commission be increased from five to seven members. The Vancouver City Council approved the recommendation and it was subsequently approved by voters in the November 2019 general election.

The Salary Review Commission meets every other year to review and re-establish or adjust the salaries of the Vancouver mayor and city councilmembers. The commission is next scheduled to convene March-June 2020.

Qualifying applicants must live within the Vancouver city limits and be registered voters. City officers, employees and their immediate family are not eligible to apply. Applicants must also be available for an interview with Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle on Feb. 12, 2020.

Salary Review Commission members are appointed by the mayor, subject to approval by the full city council. Each commission member serves for a single four-year term and may not be re-appointed.
