Skate and Bike Park to open in Phase 3
Playground structures, sports courts and picnic tables within Battle Ground City Parks have officially reopened. Clark County was approved to move into Phase 2 of Washington state’s Safe Start Plan on June 5. Phase 2 allows outdoor recreation with no more than 5 people.
The city’s Skate Park is scheduled to open the beginning of Phase 3 when the Safe Start plan allows for as many as 50 people. Bathrooms will remain closed.
City Public Works crews have taken care to sanitize play structures prior to reopening. The sanitizing process will occur twice weekly. However, park users should always use discretion when using playground equipment and other common-use structures. Safety and prevention practices such as using hand sanitizer before and after using equipment, maintaining physical distancing, and avoiding large gatherings should be used. Park users are asked to wash their hands frequently and stay home if they are sick.
Open areas of parks – trails and fields – have remained open for community use throughout the COVID-19 public health emergency. The care the community has taken in physically distancing and keeping parks free of trash is appreciated. City officials ask that area residents continue to do so to keep Battle Ground safe and healthy.
