Rest areas in both directions will each be closed for five days
RIDGEFIELD — Travelers who need to take a break while on Interstate 5 should plan ahead beginning Mon., April 8.
The Washington State Department of Transportation will close the Gee Creek rest areas located on both directions of I-5 near the State Route 502 interchange (Exit 11) for annual maintenance work.
Closure details
- The southbound Gee Creek rest area will be closed from 1 a.m. Mon., April 8 until 4:30 p.m. Fri., April 12.
- The northbound Gee Creek rest area will be closed from 1 a.m. Mon., April 15 until 4:30 p.m., Fri., April 19.
During the closures, WSDOT maintenance crews will deep clean each location, repair damaged picnic areas, update landscaping and conduct routine safety inspections of the electrical and plumbing systems.
Both rest areas are among the busiest in the state, with approximately 800,000 annual visitors utilizing each facility, a figure calculated by the number of toilet flushes.
